About Blunton
In the winter of 1881, Albert Bacon Blunton was born on a farm just outside Frankfurt, Kentucky. At age 16, Blunton began working as an office boy at the Old Fire Copper Distillery (often abbreviated O.F.C. Distillery). Over the next few years, Blunton reportedly worked in every sector of the distillery. At age 20, he became O.F.C.’s superintendent, and served there until his retirement in 1952.
Much like his mentor, E.H. Taylor, Blunton was a traditional bourbon elite, married to a Kentucky street bourbon whiskey producer. In his distillery, Blunton pointed to a specific part of Warehouse H, which he thought was best for aged bourbon, and he personally went from section to individual barrel to his personal reserve for the bottle. This bourbon is made from corn, rye and malt barley mash before it can be cooked in an American white oak can for extraordinary softness and cleanliness. Honey, mustard, dried fruits, vanilla and chocolate make the nose strong and dry. The palate is full of sharp apricot notes with butter, pepper, honey and oak. Toffee lasts a long time with Apple Pecan and Caramel.
Designed exclusively for the Japanese export market at 80 Proof, Blunton’s black label is one of the world’s rarest bourbon whiskeys. Significantly similar to the Green Label Special Reserve, the main difference is the selection process for barrels with a minimum age of 8 years (as opposed to standard 6), which creates a more complex, stronger and better whiskey tasting experience. ۔ Like the Takara Red Edition, the Black Label is a statement piece for any serious bourbon collector and a must try for any Blunton enthusiast.
Developed for the Japanese market, this Blunton expression is made with Buffalo Trace High Rye Mesh # 2. At 8 years old, in the newly burned American oak, it is bottled on 80 proofs.
TASTING NOTES of Blanton’s Black Label Single
There is caramel, vanilla, apple, cherry, dark sugar, and plenty of oak that recognizes itself on the nose. Vanilla and fruit are oak on the palate and have a pleasant sweetness everywhere. The middle finish is smooth and well-rounded with a long, long vanilla.
Palate:
The taste is smooth. Very easy drinker. Slight burning on the tongue. Fruits and sweets on the front of the tongue make way for 8-year-old oak juice. Oak isn’t too powerful, but it’s definitely worth noting.
Finish:
The finish on this bottle was moderate to the best of its ability. It doesn’t take long. It’s delicious and makes a great sip drink.

About Colonel Albert Bacon Blanton
Colonel Albert Beacon Blunton was born in 1881 on a farm near a distillery. In 1897, at the age of (very) 16, Colonel Blunton was hired as a clerk in a distillery. As he grew older, he became acquainted with the work of the distillery, working in every department. He started as an office boy at the age of 16, and eventually became president of the distillery in 1921, in charge of the entire operation. Col. Blunton’s experience was invaluable in all aspects of the distillery. His leadership led the distillery through some of the most difficult times of the 20th century, beginning with the ban. Colonel Blunton’s shrewd business acumen allowed the production of bourbon to continue during the ban, while the distillery continued to operate while many others were closing their doors. When the embargo was lifted in 1933, the nation was in the throes of a Great Depression. Once again, the leadership of Colonel Blunton allowed the distillery to prevail in the throes of depression. In 1937, the rising waters of the KY River engulfed the distillery. It is noteworthy that within 24 hours of the floodwaters receding, Col. Blunton restored the distillery to normal. A few years later, during World War II, Colonel Blunton’s gift of guidance kept the distillery afloat at a time when it needed to suspend the production of whiskey and produce straightforward wines specifically for military purposes.
