  • Yellowstone 2015 Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey has been hand-selected by Steve Beam, and is a marriage of 12-year-old high-rye bourbon and 7-year-old wheated/high-rye bourbons. After the 12-year-old bourbon has been extracted from the barrels, the barrels are used once again to finish the 7-year-old bourbons. As a result, Yellowstone Bourbon has an aroma of figs, chocolate and caramel corn, and leads to a bold palate filled with rhubarb vanilla, oak and freshly-baked pie crust. The finish is rich, with hints of raspberries and maple, and incredibly smooth. “It’s been a dream for my brother Paul and I to return the Yellowstone brand back to our family,” says Steve Beam. “With this bourbon, both sides of our family – the Beams and the Dants – and their distilling heritage, come together. It was one of the main reasons we partnered with Luxco, to bring Yellowstone back home and begin distilling and bottling it right here at Limestone Branch.” Pick up a bourbon rich in both history and taste today! About Yellowstone Yellowstone National Park was established in 1876 and just a few short years later, the Yellowstone Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey brand would emerge with an equally-rich story. J.B. Dant, legendary distiller and the son of J.W. Dant, first began distilling in the late 1800s, using a "log still" instead of the more popular — yet more expensive — copper pot stills. A log still is made by hollowing out a tree trunk and lining the interior with copper pipes, a cheaper yet still effective way of distilling. As Dant’s Yellowstone brand gained popularity in Kentucky, he was able to purchase other nearby distilleries and formalize his process. In the early 1900s, it was through this expansion that Dant began working more closely with M.C. Beam of the illustrious Beam family. Together, Dant and Beam operated their network of facilities as the Yellowstone Distillery and continued to produce Yellowstone Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey for "medicinal purposes" throughout Prohibition. Although the Yellowstone brand changed hands several times throughout the 20th century (first to Diageo and recently to Luxco) and eventually fell out of favor, Luxco, along with the Beam family’s new Limestone Branch Distillery, has recently revitalized the brand, unearthing an old Beam family recipe and partnering with Paul and Steve Beam to create a spectacular bourbon that pays homage to the original.   • Limestone Branch Distillery (Lebanon, KY) Master Distiller Stephen Beam has announced the upcoming release of its 2022 Yellowstone Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Per the brand, this Lim Ed expression is a meticulously balanced blend of 7-year, 15-year and 16-year aged bourbons selected by Beam and aged in Marsala Superiore casks. It will begin hitting select markets in September. Since 2015, Beam has produced a unique, limited-edition bourbon annually under the Yellowstone brand, which celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2022, along with its namesake national park. For this year’s Yellowstone Limited Edition, Beam selected Marsala Superiore casks to finish select barrels of 7-year-old-bourbon to provide unique tasting notes to complement the extra-aged bourbons comprising this year’s Limited Edition.   • Ardbeg Supernova 2019 Committee Release. The Ardbeg distillery was founded in 1815 by John Macdougall on the island of Islay (pronounced ‘eye-lah’). As with many other distilleries there have been a number of owners over the years and a lot of ups and downs. One thing has remained consistent, the name and the unique letter A that’s been trademarked. 2019 brought to the retail market a limited release of Ardbeg Supernova. Said to be the peatiest whiskey in the Ardbeg line up, it has been described as a “peat bomb” or “peat explosion.” It was last seen on retail shelves back in 2015 as part of a celebration to mark the brand sending some of spirit into space to orbit the Earth for three years about the International Space Station. Tasting Notes: Ardbeg Supernova 2019 Committee Release Vital Stats: This single malt whisky matured in ex-bourbon barrels is 100% malted barley. Released October 2019; Limited release; Non chill-filtered at 53.8% ABV; no age statement; 750 ml. Appearance: Pale bronze Nose: It’s a full body peat that wafts into your nose. The smell is quite voluptuous, strong, yet pleasant. To me, there is not a “knock your socks off” smokey peat smell nor is it acrid. For a scotch, the smell seems very balanced between peat and sweetness which seems weird for the being the peatiest whisky brand. Palate: The flavor of this single malt scotch is very buttery and spicy with a smoky finish. It’s very smooth going down. For possibly being one of the peatiest whiskies in the world this is one of the smoothest I’ve ever encountered. Ardbeg Supernova 2019 Committee Release $250.00
