The whisky is formidable, a sherry-butt ex bourbon barrel single malt bottled at 80.6 proof, instilled with a remarkable degree of complexity - the profile spans sour citrus, sherry undertones and creamy vanilla, with a slightly oily and sweet mouthfeel that coats the throat before giving way to a lengthy finish swimming with orange zest.   • A limited edition whiskey, the Aberfeldy 15 Years is made according to traditional production methods, established around 1897 by the founders John and Tommy Dewar. The pure and mineral-rich water of the small river Pitille Burn contributes significantly to the high quality of this whiskey. It ages for 15 years in ex-Bourbon barrels, completing its refinement with 5 months of French oak barrels previously used for aging Pomerol wine, one of the finest in Bordeaux. Intense golden yellow in color, it combines the hints of honey and vanilla characteristic of Aberfeldy whiskeys, with notes of cherry and apricot imparted by aging in ex-Pomerol barrels, enriching this distillate with complexity. Single cask refill sherry hogshead #72 distilled January 1982 and bottled March 2022 by Gordon & MacPhail for the Private Collection series. 174 hand-blown crystal decanters have been produced. GLEN MHOR 40 YEAR OLD 1982 SINGLE MALT WHISKY John Birnie and James Mackinlay commissioned Charles C. Doig to design Glen Mhor Distillery which was found in 1892 and constructed at Muirton Basin on the Caledonian Canal in Inverness. Glen Mhor Distillery was a Highland malt whisky distillery equipped with two stills and one of the pioneering distilleries to release single malt whisky back in the 1960s. Closed in 1983, dismantled in 1986, demolished 1988 and now one of Scotland’s lost malt whisky distilleries. With stock dwindling bottlings of Glen Mhor are highly prized particularly those released by Gordon & MacPhail. TASTING NOTES Rich sherry influences with toasted hazelnuts and subtle milk chocolate. Morello cherry notes develop alongside sweet treacle toffee. Intense stewed fruit leads to pressed apple and demera sugar.
