  • The 2022-release of Longrow 18 Year Old heavily-peated whisky from Springbank Distillery has been matured exclusively in ex-sherry casks. Aromas of Maraschino cherries, sea salt, delicate orange, black pepper and coastal peat smoke fill the nose, complemented by notes of salted caramel, coffee, oak spice, engine oil, dried apricots, salty smoke and pepper throughout the palate.   • Ardbeg Supernova 2019 Committee Release. The Ardbeg distillery was founded in 1815 by John Macdougall on the island of Islay (pronounced ‘eye-lah’). As with many other distilleries there have been a number of owners over the years and a lot of ups and downs. One thing has remained consistent, the name and the unique letter A that’s been trademarked. 2019 brought to the retail market a limited release of Ardbeg Supernova. Said to be the peatiest whiskey in the Ardbeg line up, it has been described as a “peat bomb” or “peat explosion.” It was last seen on retail shelves back in 2015 as part of a celebration to mark the brand sending some of spirit into space to orbit the Earth for three years about the International Space Station. Tasting Notes: Ardbeg Supernova 2019 Committee Release Vital Stats: This single malt whisky matured in ex-bourbon barrels is 100% malted barley. Released October 2019; Limited release; Non chill-filtered at 53.8% ABV; no age statement; 750 ml. Appearance: Pale bronze Nose: It’s a full body peat that wafts into your nose. The smell is quite voluptuous, strong, yet pleasant. To me, there is not a “knock your socks off” smokey peat smell nor is it acrid. For a scotch, the smell seems very balanced between peat and sweetness which seems weird for the being the peatiest whisky brand. Palate: The flavor of this single malt scotch is very buttery and spicy with a smoky finish. It’s very smooth going down. For possibly being one of the peatiest whiskies in the world this is one of the smoothest I’ve ever encountered. Ardbeg Supernova 2019 Committee Release $250.00
  • Rosebank 31 Year Old - Release Two (2). This alluringly light and vibrant 31 Year Old leads with citrus bursts, soft vanilla and candied almonds. Camomile, berry and baked banana grace the palate, with a signature smooth finish of sweet peach, oak and herbal notes. The second in the global series of legacy Rosebank releases epitomises the qualities that earned Rosebank reverence as 'The King of the Lowlands’. This rare bottling has been drawn from casks that were salvaged before the distillery’s untimely closure in the early 1990s. The 31 Year Old is comprised of scarce stocks from just before Falkirk site was mothballed in ‘93.  Despite spending over three decades in casks, the Lowland single malt retains a bright and zesty nose, with hints of lime and lemongrass. This light, vibrant profile continues onto the palate, where mint and chamomile are met with more robust notes of leather and banana bread. The dram finishes with long herbal notes, sweet peaches, and a hint of oak. Rosebank distillery was sadly closed in 1993 which was terrible news to Rosebank fans worldwide. Though good news followed in 2017 when it was acquired by Ian Macleod distillers, the distillery is expected to start producing again in 2023. This release, which is the final remnants of liquid from before the closure has resulted in a stunningly refined and rare 31 year old single malt. Rosebank 31 Year Old - Release Two $1,675.00
