  • Ardbeg Ardcore Ardbeg Day 2022 Here we have the latest Ardbeg release - Ardcore. This is created with roasted black malt, roasted to the extreme Ardbeg say. The malt is what defines this distinctive flavour profile. Described as tasting like ‘biting on a spiky ball’ - interesting. Ardcore is a smoky, rich single malt made using black malt. Heavily roasted in strictly-monitored kilns at super-high temperatures, the black malt used to make Ardcore has created aromas of toast and marmite, coffee grounds, garden herbs, bonfire smoke, charcoal and sticky molasses that fill the nose. The palate offers notes of cocoa powder, dark chocolate, peanut brittle, toffee, aniseed, barbecued lime, soot, bonfire smoke and malty biscuits throughout the palate and lingering in the finish.   • GlenDronach Grandeur Batch 11. The GlenDronach Distillery has unveiled Batch 11 in its Grandeur series of whiskies. A 28-year-old Single Malt Scotch hand-selected by Master Blender Rachel Barrie, the GlenDronach Grandeur Batch 11 is made from a small number of rare Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks. The GlenDronach Grandeur Batch 11 was matured in sherry casks for nearly three decades and is made to epitomize the brand’s mastery of sherry cask maturation. It embodies their commitment to crafting exceptional, richly sherried Single Malts, using time-honored methods passed down for almost two centuries. On the nose, the whisky is opulent and powerful with notes of sherry, interwoven with dark manuka honey, roasted almond, and walnut. From there, baked plum and ginger captivate the senses, deepening to rustic vintage leather and freshly ground coffee. The palate is intense and full-bodied with dark fruit notes on a base of velvet and fine leather, followed by a crescendo of black cherry and espresso. The finish is richly rewarding, with waves of chocolate, licorice, and walnut. “The GlenDronach Grandeur is an unparalleled range of the finest aromas and character from masterful Spanish oak sherry cask maturation,” said Master Blender Rachel Barrie. “A Single Malt of elegant finesse, this expression offers a symphony of sherry aromatics interwoven with dark manuka honey, roasted almond, and walnut.
